What it is
Bluzelle is a decentralized database protocol that provides dApps with fast, scalable data storage and retrieval via a global network of node operators.
Technology & consensus
Per the official whitepaper, Bluzelle is a decentralized database service for dApps: data is stored across clusters ("swarms") of geographically distributed nodes to avoid single points of failure. Storage/compute providers ("producers") stake tokens proportional to services provided as a reliability guarantee, tracked via a "karma index" tied to performance; underperforming producers lose stake and reputation. A two-token model separates the tradable ERC-20 BLZ from the fast micropayment token used inside the network, convertible 1:1 via a token gateway.
Token utility
BLZ is the platform token: used to pay for transactions, storage, and database services, for staking by producers as a service guarantee, and for voting on the future of the network.
Key risks & notes
Bluzelle is an early-2018 project competing with entrenched centralized databases and other decentralized storage players (Filecoin, Arweave, IPFS-based systems). The dual-token design (BLZ/BNT or BLZ/BNT successor) adds complexity, and network utility ultimately depends on real dApp developer adoption of its database layer.
