What it is
Pundi X is a blockchain payments company whose XPOS terminals and wallet infrastructure let merchants accept cryptocurrency in physical retail; PUNDIX is its ecosystem utility token.
Technology & consensus
Per the official whitepaper, Pundi X builds point-of-sale infrastructure (XPOS devices, XWallet app, XPASS cards) enabling retail merchants to accept crypto alongside fiat, with automatic fiat-crypto conversion at the terminal. The ecosystem later expanded to the Function X blockchain (a decentralized OS/chain/IPFS/Docker stack where each device acts as a node) and more recently to Pundi AI / AIFX omnichain data-tagging infrastructure recorded on-chain and IPFS.
Token utility
PUNDIX is the ecosystem's ERC-20 utility token (created via the 2021-2022 redenomination from NPXS at 1000:1): it is used to pay for services within the Pundi X ecosystem and can be delegated to Pundi X Chain validators for staking. Historically, XPOS transaction activity burned NPXS as a supply-reduction mechanism.
Key risks & notes
The official whitepaper dates to the 2017-2018 ICO era (PXS/NPXS) and predates the PUNDIX redenomination and the Function X / Pundi AI pivots, so it does not fully describe the current token mechanics. PUNDIX depends on real-world XPOS merchant adoption, which has been slow, and crypto point-of-sale faces competition from established payment rails and regulatory hurdles in target markets.
