RENDER · Render Network

UtilityPays GPU providers for rendering work on the Render network.

What it is

The Render Network is a decentralized marketplace connecting creators who need GPU rendering and AI compute with providers of idle GPU capacity.

Technology & consensus

Creators submit jobs to a decentralized pool of GPU node operators matched through the network; GPU performance is standardized with the OctaneBench benchmark and priced via a multi-tier pricing algorithm. The architecture combines an offchain rendering network with blockchain payment layers using escrow contracts, and the token was upgraded from RNDR (Ethereum) to RENDER (Solana).

Token utility

RENDER is burned by users to submit rendering and compute jobs (priced in USD at submission), while node operators earn newly minted RENDER as compensation; the token is also used in network governance.

Key risks & notes

There is no fixed quantity of compute per token, so the compute value of RENDER floats with network pricing. The network depends on OTOY and the Render Network Foundation for stewardship and faces competition from centralized clouds and other DePIN GPU networks.

Claim type · Utility / gas token
What does the holder own?

Title, redemption claim, fractional ownership, reserve exposure — or just narrative.

RENDER is the medium of exchange on the Render Network: users burn RENDER to submit GPU rendering/compute jobs, node operators earn newly minted RENDER under the burn-and-mint equilibrium model, and holders stake and vote on Render Network Proposals.

Verified
Who holds the underlying?

Needs an identifiable custodian or entity — not a wallet address or a label.

No underlying exists by design. The whitepaper states RENDER is a fungible utility token that 'does not confer ownership or profit rights'; no backing claim and no custodian.

Verified
How are reserves checked?

Custodian records → inventory → third-party audit → supply reconciliation.

No reserves exist by design; issuance follows the burn-and-mint equilibrium with variable inflation based on network usage, and supply is auditable on-chain (Solana SPL token).

Verified
How does redemption work?

Eligibility, minimums, fees, KYC, settlement — and what happens to the token.

No redemption is promised by any issuer. Burning RENDER to submit rendering jobs is payment for services, not redemption; staking rewards are protocol issuance, not a redemption claim.

Who is liable if redemption fails?

A legally accountable entity and jurisdiction — not a DAO label.

The Render Network Foundation (renderfoundation.com), established 2023 as the independent not-for-profit governing the protocol, is described in third-party research as a Cayman Islands foundation company. OTOY Inc. was the original financing contributor.

❔ Frequently asked questions

What is Render (RENDER)?

The Render Network is a decentralized marketplace connecting creators who need GPU rendering and AI compute with providers of idle GPU capacity.

What does the holder own?

RENDER is the medium of exchange on the Render Network: users burn RENDER to submit GPU rendering/compute jobs, node operators earn newly minted RENDER under the burn-and-mint equilibrium model, and holders stake and vote on Render Network Proposals.

What is Render's verification status?

Render (RENDER) carries verification class B (Class B): a mix of VERIFIED and PARTIALLY VERIFIED with no UNVERIFIED and no CONTRADICTED findings. What would change it: Independent evidence closing the partially verified gaps would move it to Class A.
